The use of play in the professional activities of school and clinical psychologists can be an integral part of forming an accurate depiction of a child’s functioning. This workshop highlights strategies and techniques for using play to understand and address child mental health issues in schools and clinical settings. It will aim to provide clinicians with ideas for using play within assessment, intervention, and consultation contexts to uncover and address the strengths and needs of children. There will be an opportunity participate in play activities such as sandtray, expressive arts based genogram and ecomapping work, puppet-based CBT and creative feeling chart implementation.
